Review: Keeley DDR Drive Delay Reverb
The Keeley Electronics DDR pedal feels like a multi-effect pedal for rock stars. With multiple delay, overdrive and reverb styles, this small pedal gives guitarists the best effects for rockin' 'n rollin'.
Overdrive (Right) Side: Fairly custom knobs for an overdrive pedal, with a really cool little toggle that changes the sound from a Blues Breaker style to a Tube Screamer style. The Blues Breaker overdrive side is really clean with nice edge and distinct highs. The Tube Screamer style cuts out the highs and emphasizes the dirty mids and lows. Just these great sounding overdrive choices alone made the DDR pedal worth having on my personal pedalboard.
Reverb Functions (Splits with the delay on the left side): When toggled to "Vint" the Spring Reverb is turned on and when toggled to "Mod" the Digital Delay is activated. Both delays were noticeably different. I really liked the warmth and the quicker decay of the Spring Reverb.
Delay Functions (splits with the reverb side on the left): When toggled to Delay, the DDR activates either the Digital Delay or the Analog Delay. When "Vint" is toggled, you get a really warm delay that can easily be adjusted by the Time and Decay knobs. When "Mod" is toggled, you get a much fuller range of harmonics.
Finally, Keeley Electronics snuck in a little "Trails" switch on the side to give a little bit longer echo vs. time trailing. Robert Keeley used every inch of this small pedal to pack in performance.
The guitarists at Sugaree Licks give the Keeley DDR the Sugaree Loves Award.
