Blues and Rock and Roll artists around the world have made the Ibanez TS9 Tube Screamer their pedal of choice to blast their amplifiers. Legendary guitarists Stevie Ray Vaughan, Buddy Guy, Eric Johnson, Carlos Santana, and The Edge are just a few who have shared their pedalboard with an Ibanez Tube Screamer. For the best Tube Screamer experience, many guitarists recommend driving amplifiers with tubes only. The Ibanez Tube Screamer TS9 Reissue pedal is great for adding some light crunch, emphasizing the mid-range of the amplifier, and helping boost the sound of your amplifier. Retailing in the United States for under $100.00 makes this pedal an easy choice.

Introduced in 2004, this new kid on the block has made an instant impact. Peter Frampton, Joe Perry, Peter Buck, and Randy Bachman have added the Fulltone OCD to their rigs over the past 15 years. The OCD v2 has a redesigned output buffer for maximum signal integrity, a Class A input section with better dynamic response, and switchable enhanced bypass or true bypass modes. The Fulltone OCD is great to push the mids of your tube amplifier. The OCD seems to play well with most brands of amplifiers. Retailing in the United States for around $130.00.

Breaking News… Boss makes an overdrive pedal! The Boss SD-1 Super Overdrive has been around for ages and can be heard in many classic rock songs from little known artists like Eddie Van Halen, Jimmy Page, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani! If you have $50.00 in your pocket, run don’t walk to a guitar store near you and pick one up.

In 2016, Brian Wampler set-out to recreate the popular sound of a Klon Centaur. The legendary Klon pedal is amazing, but the pedal is discontinued and fetches a price tag of over $2000.00. The high price has made it unattainable to most guitarist. The Wampler Tumnus and recently released Tumnus Deluxe Overdrive have created that same tone at a fraction of the cost. The Tumnus creates these amazing sounds thanks in part to the design’s articulate-sounding buffer, clarity, punch, and detailed breakup. The Tumnus and Tumnus Deluxe can be found at United States retailers for under $200.00.

The original rat found its way into basements and garages in the United States in 1978. I am sure mothers around the nation hated it as much as the real rats, but guitarist loved it. The more recently released Pro Co Rat 2 pedal has made guitarists happy all over the world. Big kids like James Hetfield, Nels Cline, Kurt Cobain, and Bonnie Raitt (No Relation) have added the Rat to their collaboration of sounds. The Pro Co Rat 2 retails for under $100 in the United States.

It is good to be the king. A young gaggle of amazing musicians have become loyal servants to the Analog Man King of Tone. John Mayer, Rich Robinson, Trey Anastasio, Noel Gallagher and Jonny Lang have entertained the King of Tone. The king is busy and the line is long to become a loyal servant of tone. Wait times for this pedal have exceeded two years, but all have said it was worth it. Get in line and No, you can’t have mine. Retail price in the United States starts at $265.00.

The secret is out, Catalinbread did an amazing job with this addition to the list. Since 2013, the Catalinbread Dirty Little Secret Foundation Overdrive has helped guitarists reproduce the sounds of either the classic Marshall Super Bass (SB) or Super Lead (SL) stack with a flip of a switch. Instead of stacking your trunk full of Marshall speakers, stack that baby with some fuzz and crush some 1970s tone! Retailing in the United States for under $180.00.

Ladies and Gentlemen…. David Gilmour. You will find David Gilmour’s bust on my Mount Rushmore of guitarists. David loves the B.K. Butler Tube Driver pedal and what mere mortal is going to disagree? The Tube Driver has an actual 12AX7 tube instead to help boom those low tones. If you want to bring the bass out of your amplifier tubes on stage, pickup a B.K. Butler Tube Driver. Fans will love you and neighbors will move away. The B.K. Butler Tube Driver is available in the United States for a hair under $300.00.

Michael Jordan vs. Lebron James, The Godfather vs. The Godfather II, Lennon vs. McCartney? There have been many classic debates throughout the years, but in the pedal industry the king of debates is the choice between the Ibanez TS808 vs TS9? Whichever camp you fall in, you are a winner, but the biggest winner is Ibanez, having two pedals on our top ten list! Buy them both and decide for yourself. Retails in the United States for under $180.00

Imitation is the greatest form of flattery? Many people believe that Maxon copied/cloned the Ibanez TS808, but in reality, Maxon actually built the Ibanez pedals from 1974 to 2002. To make things more confusing, the OD808 two output resistors reissue values make the OD808 electronically identical to an original TS9, rather than a TS808. If this is getting confusing, join the group. What isn’t confusing is guitarists love the tone of these amazing overdrive pedals. The Maxon OD808 is available in the United States for under $150.00.
